Invercargill Mayor Tim Shadbolt was first elected to office 12 years ago today.

Waikato radio station The Breeze is using the anniversary as a gimmick, offering a trip for two to Invercargill for the Bluff Oyster and Southland Seafood Festival on April 23 and 24.

Mr Shadbolt will meet the winners when they arrive in the city and show them some of Invercargill's tourist attractions.
