Super star kakapo Sirocco has shot to fame on You Tube, where there is video of the male endangered New Zealand parrot getting frisky with a zoologist.
The two-minute clip shows the 12-year-old bird climbing on to Mark Carwadine's head and trying to mate.
It has already received more than half a million views.
The parrot pornography was filmed earlier this year when Mr Carwardine and author-actor Stephen Fry were on Codfish Island, near Stewart Island off southern New Zealand, to film the BBC2 series Last Chance to See.
Department of Conservation media advisor Nic Vallance said the screening had attracted a lot of attention.
Sirocco's Facebook page jumped from 600 friends to more than 2000 in the 48 hours after the episode was broadcast in the United Kingdom, she said. "The international interest in kakapo is just fantastic," Ms Vallance said.
DOC has also set up a Twitter page, which already has more than 1000 followers.
