Delays likely to hit state highway

Motorists can expect delays on State Highway 6 next week.
The NZ Transport Agency is planning an inspection and safety works at Nevis Bluff, about halfway between Cromwell and Queenstown.
Project manager John Jarvis said the work was part of continuing maintenance at the bluff. It follows drilling and blasting work earlier this year, which removed 1500 cubic metres of weathered rock from an area that posed a potential hazard to road users, he said.
Engineers would abseil down the bluff to inspect it, scaling would remove small rocks or loose material and there would be sluicing by helicopter, he said. Traffic delays were unavoidable, he said.
Motorists can expect delays of up to 10 minutes between 8am and 5pm from Monday, November 23 to November 30, excluding the weekend.
