Santa won't have any trouble finding some homes in Southland, with dozens lit up brightly as part of the annual Christmas lights competition.
More than 30 homes are entered in the MacPherson Realty-run competition.
Competition co-ordinator Sally Clark said 10 fewer entries were received this year than last year, but the effort entrants were going to was getting bigger every year.
"Some of it is absolutely fantastic ... It's really good to see all the effort going into it."
The entries were judged last night by Invercargill Mayor Tim Shadbolt and MacPherson Realty managing director Brian MacPherson.
Prizes would go to the best new entry and best rural entry, with four supreme awards, four merit awards and a spot prize to also be handed out. The winners will be announced today.
The competition continued to be popular with the public with organisers fielding "a lot" of requests for entry lists, Ms Clark said.
