MulletMan confident ahead of festival

The star of the World Buskers Festival arrived in Invercargill yesterday and is convinced his MulletMan act will be well supported in the south.
Juggler Nathan "Mulletman" Bonner, of Christchurch, won best New Zealand busker at the close of the festival in Christchurch this month.
Bonner is part of the contingent for this weekend's Southland Buskers Festival.
While he has never performed in Southland, he was looking forward to it, he said.
"I've a few friends who are comedians who have come to Invercargill and they said they had been received really well.
"The crowds are supportive and accommodating," he said.
Winning the festival in Christchurch was "awesome".
"It was a great week in Christchurch. Busking can be the best job and the worst of jobs – it can be really fickle. Great one day and not so good the next."
He described his show on the outside as a unicycling and juggling show ... but on the inside it was "all about the mullet".
"People respond to the mullet. I'm predicting the mullet will go down really well in Southland."
In Christchurch, the festival judges liked his performance for its understated and self-deprecating charm.
One of the judges described his act as unique.
"I liked his swagger and the way he talked to the audience. He acts as if he is not very good, but he is having you on and really has the skills. He is going to go a long way," the judge said.
The Southland Buskers Festival starts today and ends on Sunday.
Acts will perform at several venues in the city, including Wachner Place, Queens Park, Farmers Market and at the Busker Comedy Club at Waxy O'Shea's.
Performers include Acrobuffos, Duo Hoops, Daredevil Chicken Club, Chris Cross, The Flash, Pete Sweet, Betty Brawn, Rubberband Boy, MulletMan and Angel.
