An emissions trading seminar is being held in Invercargill tomorrow to explain to Southlanders how carbon credits could affect them.
The seminar has been organised by Venture Southland after it received comments from businesses in the region on the workings of the Government's trading scheme in response to global climate change.
Venture enterprise and projects co-ordinator Karyn Owen said many business owners knew of the scheme but did not understand how the market-based approach work-ed.
Lawyers and accountants had registered the most interest, but there were also small business and landowners who "have not managed to to get their head around it", she said.
The free seminar is at Ascot Park Hotel from 1pm until 4.30pm and will have guest speakers from the Agriculture and Forestry Ministry, carboNZero and various academics speaking and answering questions.
People interested in attending the seminar must register with Venture Southland
