It's two from two for Invercargill with back-to-back wins in the Heart Foundation Lottery.
The lottery's marketing and direct market manager Gail McIntyre confirmed yesterday the top prize had gone to an Invercargill winner, but was keeping details about who they were under wraps.
"They only found out on Friday (March 12) ... they are still processing it."
The winner's identity would possibly be made public in the next few days, once the transfer of the prize, a Jennian Homes "dream home" and section in Wanaka, into their ownership had been completed, Mrs McIntyre said.
The house at 48 Frye Cres, Riverside Park, Albert Town, just outside Wanaka, has a registered valuation of $540,000 and comes fully furnished. It is 184 square metres has an internal-entry garage and is on a 834 square metre section.
Single-level and finished in plaster, weatherboard and schist stone, the home comprises four bedrooms. The master bedroom has an ensuite and walk-in wardrobe.
It was the second time in a row first prize in the lottery had gone to Invercargill, she said.
City couple Kelly and Barry McLaughlin won a $500,000 house, also built by Jennian, in Ruakaka, in Northland, in December.
A Winton ticket holder won $10,000 in this month's draw.
The "earlybird" prize is drawn from those ticket holders who order and pay by a set date for the following draw – usually a month out from winners being announced.
The Heart Foundation holds six lotteries a year.
