Queenstown could be in for even more trans-Tasman flights before the end of the year.
Qantas will announce its plans for flights between the resort and Australian destinations next week.
Spokeswoman Emma Kearns said Queenstown was an important market for the airline and schedules were being finalised.
At the Trenz tourism conference in Auckland on Tuesday, Air New Zealand announced it would almost double its capacity into the resort on trans-Tasman flights starting in December.
Deputy chief executive Norm Thompson said Queenstown had proven last summer it was worthy of direct flights from Australia and Air New Zealand was confident it could handle more.
Pacific Blue spokesman Phil Boeyen said there were no plans to increase flights on the route.
He said an extra flight between Dunedin and Brisbane would be added in spring, bringing the total number to four a week. Pacific Blue had not taken much capacity out of the market during the recession but instead had attempted to shift it around routes, he said.
