Ranfurly is set to get a new kindergarten.
In an announcement made yesterday, Central Otago Kindergarten Association president Gigi Hollyer confirmed the association will be opening the Maniototo Kindergarten in March next year.
Two full-time teachers and a part-time teacher will be employed initially, and the kindergarten will open with a roll of 20 children, Ms Hollyer said.
It will be licensed for 30 children aged between two and six years, and will be sited on the Maniototo Area School grounds.
Ms Hollyer praised the efforts of the Maniototo Kindergarten establishment committee which had been fundraising for the project for the past two years and was well on its way to reaching its target of $60,000.
The Otago Community Trust had also provided a grant of $75,000, she said. Any further funds needed for certain aspects of the project such as the fencing, shade sails and a storage shed, would come from further grants and the Central Otago Kindergarten Association reserves.
