BITTER WEATHER: The cold and miserable weather was once again a major feature in this year's Tour of Southland

Relevant offers

Tour of Southland competitors take to the eighth and final stage of the gruelling six-day road cycling event on Saturday as a couple of Santas, Nick Kergozou and Caleb Hope, cheer the breakaway bunch on as they approach Grove Bush.

The cold and miserable weather was once again a major feature in this year's Tour of Southland with Saturday's Stage 7 time trial in Winton cancelled as snow fell.

The final stage from Winton to Invercargill was also reduced in length with the usual four laps around Queens Park finish cut because of the wintry conditions.

Nineteen-year-old Josh Atkins, of Christchurch, became the youngest  winner of the Tour of Southland, with the help of his PowerNet team.
