Central Southland College has won this year's Invercargill Stage Challenge with their performance Rumour Has It, a cautionary tale of the power of gossip.
The performance featured circus skills which impressed the judges, as did their set design, using bright colours, and choreography.
Event manager Gemma Parry said the show was `stunning'.
Southland Girls' High School came second in the overall category with a performance about the `trials and tribulations of teenage life'.
The judges also singled out Takitimu Primary School for praise for their performance in the primary school competition.
The show was held at Invercargill's Civic Theatre on Friday night.
