Invercargill Public Library staffer eats humble pie
It's not often someone is happy to eat humble pie, but as Donald Cunningham emerged from behind a pile of cream, he sported a wide smile.
The Invercargill Public Library customer experience team leader took a pie in the face as part of the library's Humble Pie Day, which raised $513 for KidsCan on Thursday.
Staff voted for their favourite candidate to receive the pie in the face by placing money in one of four jars, each representing a different staff member who had volunteered to put themselves in the firing line.

"I guess it's a sign of how much the staff love me," Cunningham said.
"I had my suspicions that I'd be picked."
Humble Pie Day organiser Cindy Mulrooney said her fundraising target had been $100, but staff's eager response had meant they raised more than five times that amount.
