A car sits under trees on Queens Dr after the driver lost control during a police pursuit on Wednesday night.

A driver fleeing police last night crashed his car into a tree, injuriing himself and his passenger.

The driver failed to stop for a marked patrol car on Queens Dr, in Invercargill, at about 11.50pm before losing control of his car.

The driver and his female passenger were admitted to Southland Hospital suffering minor injuries but were later discharged.

A 19-year-old man will appear in the Invercargill District Court today charged with failing to stop for police, disqualified driving and breach of bail.
