Police are investigating wilful damage at a service station in Queenstown after youths threw rocks at a vehicle.

Sergeant Mark Gill, of Queenstown, said two male youths threw rocks into the Z station on Frankton Rd at 11.15 last night, hitting and damaging a vehicle.

Meanwhile, police are asking for help identifying the owner of a large box and jump starting gear.

A box found on Glenda Dr, in Frankton, on June 6 was handed to police this week and appeared to contain a large lampshade.

The two jump starters, a 600 amp model and a compact super mini booster kit, were recovered by police searching a Queenstown property during a burglary investigation.

Senior constable Chris Blackford said a man was jailed on charges that related to the search but police wanted to identify the owner of the hardware.
