Raw Blond stylists Rochelle Finlay, left, and Erin Blackare the only two South Island finalists in the hair-styling Goldwell Color Zoom Challenge.
The pair will attend an awards night in Melbourne in August, and if they win, take part in October's international final in London.
Ms Black, a new talent finalist, said they liked to explore their creative side at the salon.
Ms Finlay, a creative colourist finalist, said they all bounced ideas off one another and it was a team effort. Color Zoom was the only competition in their industry that went global, she said.
Last year Ms Finlay was the only South Island finalist at the competition, held in Sydney, and won the creative colourist section, earning her a place at the international final in Miami.
Photographs of the designs, taken by James Jubb, were judged for the first stage of the competition, but if selected for London they would recreate the design live in front of judges.
