Three Southland restaurants are taking part in a new food award as part of the Beef and Lamb Excellence awards.
The People's Choice Award will allow diners at restaurants with a 2012 Beef and Lamb Excellence Award this month to rate the meal based on taste, presentation and value for money.
The restaurants are Emberz Restaurant (Ascot Park Hotel), Level One Restaurant and Bar (Kelvin Hotel) and Paddington Arms.
Level One Restaurant and Bar hotel manager Bryan Townley said the competition would give them unsolicited feedback.
Emberz Restaurant's new executive chef Simon Henry said getting feedback from the public was fantastic because they were the restaurant's biggest critics.
