Two men, one s covered in vomit, were taken to the Queenstown police cells for alcoholic detoxification overnight.
Constable Dave Felstead, of Queenstown, said neither man was charged with an offence but they were kept in the cells for observation and their own safety. The first detox case entered the cells at 3am.
The second, a 28-year-old Saudi Arabian man who had already been seen by St John ambulance staff at Cow Lane in central Queenstown, and was covered in vomit, was put into the cells at 5.20pm. He was released about 8.30am, Mr Felstead said.
Meanwhile, two separate vehicle crashes happened at the same place, around the same time, when the vehicles slid on black ice on State Highway 6 this morning.
The crashes happened about 7am close to the Victoria Bridge near the Nevis Bluff. There were no injuries.
