An independent commissioner has indicated he may grant an interim resource consent for a $1.3 million Cromwell i-SITE.

At a hearing in Cromwell yesterday, commissioner Denis Nugent reserved his decision on a resource consent application by the Central Otago District Council to build the i-SITE in Murray Tce.

The council has applied for a resource consent from itself to build the visitor and information centre, which breaches the minimum floor area of 600 square metres for land in the business area.

The proposed centre would be 300sqm and would include a retail area which would sell "visitor orientated" products, such as maps and toy sheep, and specialty food products, such as honey, and wine. che.baker@stl.co.nz
