Shack to get new name, address

The sweet times will soon be over for a well-known Invercargill bar after a closing date for the Shack was announced yesterday.
Staff at the popular bar were told December 27 would be the final day of trading, bringing to an end months of speculation over a closing date.
Invercargill Licensing Trust marketing manager Gary Muir said it had been public knowledge for several months that the trust was looking at rebranding the Shack, which was "past its best".
None of the staff would lose their jobs, with casual workers who wanted to continue offered positions at other establishments, Mr Muir said.
The new premises in Dee St would be an exciting place for young people to go but an exact opening date was uncertain, he said.
The Southland Times understands the bar will be located in the fomer Deka building and will be called Eclipse.
