A man has been arrested after an armed offenders squad callout in Otautau last night.
Acting senior sergeant Geoff Sutherland, of Invercargill, this morning said a 33-year-old man was expected to appear in the Invercargill District Court later today, facing charges of threatening behaviour, intentional damage, assault and possession of an offensive weapon.
Police last night said the squad was called after a report of a man wielding a large butcher's knife, after a domestic assault at an Otautau house. The knife was not involved in the assault.
A man left the house and police cordoned off a section of Otautau, they said.
Mr Sutherland said inquiries into the incident were continuing.
