An Air New Zealand flight from Wellington to Invercargill was cancelled this morning because of a technical issue with the radar system.
A spokeswoman for the airline said a technical issue with the aircraft’s on board radar system meant NZ8089, due to land in Invercargill at 11.15am, was cancelled and passengers were re-accommodated on alternative services.
It was likely the aircraft would return to service this afternoon, she said.
Rugby Southland posted on its Facebook page earlier today that due to the cancelled flight out of the capital the ‘‘battered and bruised’’ team would be flying to Queenstown and then to Invercargill by bus.
