CHE BAKER IN ALEXANDRA
A 68-year-old Alexandra man who recorded a breath alcohol level three-and-a-half times the legal limit was arrested and charged with drink-driving in Alexandra last night after members of the public called police.
Sergeant Dave Greaves, of Alexandra, said police were called to the scene at 5pm after residents become ''so concerned they managed to take the keys from the driver''.
He was found to be grossly intoxicated and recorded a breath alcohol level of 1480mcg.
The limit is 400mcg.
Mr Greaves said the man's license was suspended immediately and he was expected to appear in the Alexandra District Court later this month.
