Four consultants have been chosen to come up with a proposal to revamp Invercargill's inner city.
Invercargill Inner City Working Group chairman Norman Elder said the consultancy groups had a strong and proven capability to deliver urban design projects and had ideas from recent provincial and metropolitan projects which could be transferred to the Invercargill project.
The consultants are Boffa Miskell (Christchurch), Baxter Design Group (Queenstown), CCM Architects Ltd, including Isthmus Group, McIndoe Urban, Stoks Limited (Wellington), and Pocock Design: Environment Ltd (Christchurch).
Consultants had been invited to present their proposal to the Working Group in November.
From there, the group would identify its preferred consultant and make a recommendation to the Invercargill City Council.
The working group would be particularly interested in seeing how the consultants would bring ''wow'' to the inner city rejuvenation, he said.
“The Council and the community need to work together to create a city centre that encourages people to visit and creates a positive vibrant heart for our city.''
