Cole Gurnsey of Queenstown, got up close and personal with rowers Mahe Drysdale and Storm Uru and their medals in Queenstown last night.
London Olympic medallists Drysdale, Uru and Juliette Haigh were special guests at a Wakatipu Rowing Club fundraising dinner in the resort town last night.
Gold medallist Eric Murray was also to be a guest of the club this weekend but had to cancel his trip because of family commitments.
The medallists have been in demand throughout the country since their return. Drysdale and Uru said they had enjoyed a great few weeks and were getting accustomed to being readily recognised wherever they go.
Uru said his Southland welcome had been "very humbling" and both rowers were enjoying sharing their Olympic experiences with Kiwis.
Cold rain and wind did not deter them from a round of golf at Jacks Point yesterday and the trio will play The Hills today.
