Indian designer takes honours at WoolOn
An Indian designer living more than 13,000 kilometres away has taken supreme honours in the 2012 Mirror WoolOn creative fashion show awards.
Kusum Bangari of Jodphur, India, won the special occasion category with her Himalayan Drama #3 creation as well as the overall title, bagging $2000 in prizemoney for her efforts.
The sellout show, which was held over two nights (Friday and Saturday) was judged by Otago Polytechnic design school lecturer Joan Leach, of Dunedin, artist and Clyde hairstylist Carolyn Laing, and Clyde and Cromwell designer Anne Lyon.
Organiser Martin McPherson said he was pleased with this year's event which attracted more than 60 garment entries.
