Party in Cromwell turns into a brawl
Cromwell police are investigating an out-of-control birthday party in Cromwell during the weekend after a brawl broke out between shearers and a group from Cromwell.
Sergeant Simon Paget said police were called to a house on Molyneux Ave at 3.50am on Saturday and found 10 people fighting in the street.
Pepper spray was used to subdue a person fighting.
It was believed the incident was linked to ''ill feeling'' between a shearing gang and the group from Cromwell and the party's escalation into violence was connected to an assault that occurred last weekend , Mr Paget said.
The 40th birthday party deteriorated after a car load of seven people arrived at the house.
A passenger from the car was knocked to the ground and repeatedly kicked, sustaining head injuries which knocked him unconscious.
Four men aged in their 20s have been arrested and charged with disorderly behaviour likely to cause violence.
A 26-year-old Cromwell man has also been charged with injuring with intent to injure but police are anticipating more arrests.
