A new senior leadership team has been announced by the Southern District Health Board after staff restructuring in September streamlined the directorates.
Previously, there were eight directorates for clinical management - four in Southland and four in Otago. This has been cut to five directorates across the Southern health district, which combined both regions in 2010.
Twenty-nine positions - primarily in site-specific management, nursing and medical roles - were cut, while 20 new, district-wide roles were established last month.
Executive director, patient service, and deputy chief executive Lexie O' Shea said the overhaul led to smarter use of resources and would be better for patients.
The new general managers are Lynley Irvine, surgical; Sharon Mason, medicine; Louise Travers, mental health, addictions and intellectual disability; and Elaine Chisnall, women, children and public health.
The nurse directors are Sharon Jones, surgical; Jane Wilson, women, children and public health; Jane Collins, older person's health clinical support and community; and Heather Casey, mental health, addictions and intellectual disability.
The date the new roles begin has not been confirmed.
The general manager of older person's health, clinical support community, and nursing director of medicine positions are still vacant and will be advertised.
Announcements on the Allied Health and medical director positions are expected soon.
