New Zealand Film Archive publicist Ellen Pullar, left, and Invercargill Public Library information services manager Linda Te Au at this week's medianet launch.
The launch of the medianet service at the library, and at the Southern Institute of Technology's Downtown campus, means more than 800 videos from Clutha south can be viewed.
The archive's catalogue of more than 110,000 films can also be searched.
Ms Te Au said it was a fantastic resource and there was something for everyone - the Hairy Maclary clips were a particular favourite of hers.
A free Spills and Thrills screening at CentreStage theatre was also part of the launch, with southern films from 1915-1973 on the big screen.
Pianist Craig Rodmell accompanied the silent films.
