Inner-city upgrade decision tomorrow
The Invercargill Inner City Working Group will decide tomorrow which consulting group will get the go-ahead to start the $6.6 million Invercargill inner-city upgrade.
Three consultants presented their design concepts to the Invercargill Inner City Working Group on November 5.
Presenters showed their interpretation of the Outline Action Plan prepared by Kobus Mentz from UrbanismPlus in December last year.
Working group chairman, city councillor Norman Elder, said the committee was impressed by the vision shown by the consultants, who were well informed and worked within the budget.
He said the working group might select two consultants and ask them to work together or it could just be one.
Committee member ILT general manger Greg Mulvey said the presentations were well reasoned and structured.
''There were some good outside the box ideas,'' he said.
The consultants presenting were: Baxter Design Group (Queenstown), CCM Architects Ltd, including Isthmus Group, McIndoe Urban, Stoks Ltd (Wellington), and Pocock Design: Environment Ltd (Christchurch).
