One person has died and four others were injured after a two car crash near Clinton this afternoon.
St John South Island region communications and promotions coordinator Alena Lynch said a male died at the scene and two other patients were flown to Dunedin Hospital in two separate helicopters with serious injuries.
Two other patients, including a 23-year-old male and a female, were taken to Balclutha GPs with minor injuries, she said.
A police communications spokesman said emergency services were called to the crash at 1.20pm.
Police, fire and ambulance from Balclutha and Clinton attended.
No further details were available.
