Selling is under way in the first Southland Charity Sales Challenge with competing businesses roaming the streets looking for potential customers.

The challenge, involving nine businesses, aims to raise $10,000 for charity.

Teams have one hour to sell as much of a product as they can, to raise money for their chosen charities.

Until 11am, when the challenge started, the product was a mystery. It has since been revealed as Southland calendars.
