Robin Campbell is the new Community Trust of Southland chairman.
Mr Campbell, of Lochiel, replaces outgoing chair Tracy Hicks.
In other changes, Joan Kiernan will replace Trish Lindsay as the trust's deputy chair.
Trust chief executive officer John Prendergast, in a statement, says Mr Hicks and Ms Lindsay had decided after two terms to step down from the roles.
Mr Hicks will complete eight years as a trustee early next year and will not be seeking reappointment, while Ms Lindsay will complete her second term as a trustee in early 2014.
Mr Hicks said that he counted it a privilege to have chaired an organisation such as the Community Trust of Southland, a role he had very much enjoyed.
Mr Campbell said: "Tracy has given a lot of his time and energy to the trust in providing it with leadership, and my challenge now is to continue that good work.
"In a role such as this, conflicts of interest, real or perceived, are a matter of significant concern. For that reason I will soon relinquish the chair roles I currently have with Venture Southland and Presbyterian Support," Mr Campbell said.
