Just one driver from more than 5000 stopped at checkpoints in and around Invercargill was above the legal alcohol limit following an operation targeting drink-driving.
Acting Senior Sergeant Dave Kennelly said the high-profile four-day operation had sought to get the drink-drive message across in conjunction with the Burt Munro weekend. "It's just a pleasing result, isn't it."
Acting Senior Sergeant Dave McKenzie said seven checkpoints were set up from Thursday to yesterday.
Two other drivers were also processed in separate incidents for drink-driving as part of routine mobile patrolling.
