LATEST: Two motorcyclists who died on the Lindis Pass were riding Harley Davidsons when they were in a collision with a car, police say.
A female pillion passenger from one bike has been flown by helicopter to Dunedin Hospital in a critical condition.
The single occupant of the car was taken by ambulance to hospital.
Central Otago Police area commander Senior Sergeant Ian Kerrisk said the motorcycles were north bound and the Nissan driving south when they collided about 20km north of Tarras on SH8, this afternoon.
The crash was near Goodger Road at about 2.15pm.
The motorcyclists were travelling with a group. Several of them witnessed the crash and were being interviewed by police at Tarras.
Victim Support was also working with the group.
Emergency services from Cromwell, Wanaka, Omarama and Otematata attended the crash.
The road was closed, but a single lane has been opened.
