A Christchurch firm has won the contract to develop a design to upgrade the inner city in Invercargill.
The Invercargill City Council today confimed it had engaged Pocock Environmental Design.
Council director of work and services Cameron McIntosh said the Inner City Working Group, comprising representatives of inner city businesses and other organisations, had invited and evaluated design consultants for the Inner City Revitalisation Project.
At a meeting last night, council approved the Inner City Working Group's recommendation to engage Pocock Environmental Design.
They would now undertake an overall investigation and prepare a detailed design, including street art.
The expected cost of this development was $130,000, which had already been
budgeted for, Mr McIntosh said.
Pocock Environmental Design was expected to start work on the project in December
and would report back to the council next year.
