Queenstown residents who have been waiting up to two years for missing mail are receiving hand delivered bundles from NZ Post.
Police have released up to 17,000 unopened letters and parcels to New Zealand Post for delivery.
From 9am this morning NZ Post staff members have hit the suburbs of Fernhill, Sunshine Bay, Arrowtown, and Lake Hayes to make the deliveries.
The mail was recovered by police at the home and commercial storage unit of a 32-year-old postie who was arrested and charged with theft this month.
She has name suppression and is scheduled to appear in Queenstown District Court tomorrow.
