Happy couples from outside the Queenstown Lakes District will have to pay more to be married at a popular council-owned venue.
The recently renovated Lake Hayes Pavilion is booked for weddings every weekend from December to May.
Couples have paid $650 to hire the pavilion for their wedding day and $325 per day either side.
The council's community services committee yesterday approved a recommendation that out-of-towners pay $1720 a day to hire the pavilion.
