A woman was bitten on the leg by a dog near Queenstown yesterday.

A police spokeswoman said the woman was walking along McChesney Rd at 9.45am when a german shepherd attacked and bit her on the back of her thigh.

The attack was referred to dog control at Lakes Environmental and regulatory and corporate manager Lee Webster said the authority was investigating.

The dog had not been involved in any previous attacks and he hoped Lakes Environmental would reach a conclusion on what to do by this afternoon.
