Don't argue with the year 8 students from Blue Mountain College - for the second year in a row they have won the Southland District Year Eight debating competition.
Eight teams representing seven schools from around Southland competed in this year's debate in a knockout competition covering three rounds.
The final of the competition was held at the Blue Mountain community centre.
It was dominated by the two four-person teams from Blue Mountain College who battled it out on the final moot: "A block of Dairy Milk is better than Rocky Road".
There were three judges for the final and Blue Mountain College debate co-ordinator Vicki Crawford said they were impressed by the standard of debate.
Mrs Crawford said that after having the team from Fiordland College dominate for so many years, she was proud of her team for pulling ahead for the second year in a row.
Both the first place trophy and the runners-up shield went to Blue Mountain College.
Top speaker was Emma Stuart, also of Blue Mountain College.
