Crash at Frankton
JOHN EDENS IN QUEENSTOWN
A woman and a toddler were taken to Lakes District Hospital this morning after a two-car crash at a busy Frankton intersection.
A black SUV with three passengers, two women and a child, travelling towards Queenstown on State Highway 6 was struck by a Volkswagen turning right on the Frankton-Miles Highway at 9.45am.
Sergeant Kate Pirovano, of Queenstown, said the male driver of the VW was uninjured and the woman and toddler were taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution.
No-one was injured and motorists were encouraged to be patient as Queenstown ramps up for the busy holiday season, she said.
''It's such a high density of traffic here. People need to be more patient, it's that time of year.
''There's a turning bay, you have to be careful as people are travelling pretty quickly.''
The intersection is in an 80kmh zone.
