Trust dishes out big grants to groups

The Otago Community Trust has announced $529,500 of donations to 34 organisations.

The Roxburgh Gorge Trail Charitable Trust received the largest chunk of the funding, with $100,000 for trail development.

The Central Otago Netball Centre received $60,000 to help resurface netball courts in Alexandra. The Upper Clutha Presbyterian Parish received $50,000 toward extension work on its church.

Other Central Otago groups that received funding were Coastguard Wanaka Lakes, $10,000, and Wanaka Bowling Club, $10,000 to upgrade the club. St Bathans Area Community Association was given $5000 for its 150th anniversary celebrations. Dunstan High School got $9000, Rural Art Deco Maniototo, $4800, Montessori Children's House Wanaka, $2000, Lake Wanaka SouNZ, $1000, and Naseby Information and Craft, $300.
