Police search and rescue were called to Milford Sound tonight after a climber was injured on Mitre Peak.
A police spokesman said they received the call at about 7pm, after the climber’s companion walked to a payphone at Milford Sound and phoned emergency services.
The accident had happened earlier in the day, the spokesman said.
It is understood a helicopter had been dispatched to retrieve the climber last night.
The climber's injuries were not life-threatening, the spokesman said.
At 10pm police said the situation had been resolved, but would not give further details.
