Invercargill residents can be happy in the knowledge that its Dee St Subway sandwiches measure up.
Australian teenager Matt Corby posted a photo of his footlong sub, measuring only 11 inches, online and became a global internet sensation.
The image has since appeared on many social media sites and television news programmes.
The Southland Times ordered some footlong subs to find out if diners in the city were being short changed. After measuring with a ruler, the subs were declared 12 inches, or one foot, long.
Subway Invercargill manager Rebecaa Tagicakibau said she was not allowed to comment.
