Queenstown dominates website hotel awards

Millbrook Resort has been named New Zealand's best hotel as well as one of the top 24 hotels in the South Pacific and a top New Zealand luxury hotel by travel website Trip Advisor.

In the Travellers' Choice Awards for this year Queenstown dominated the top 25 New Zealand hotels category, with Hilton Queenstown second and the Pounamu Apartments third.

The Sofitel Queenstown ranked eighth, Glebe Apartments 10th, St Moritz Queenstown 12th and the Crowne Plaza Queenstown 18th.

In the Top 25 New Zealand small hotels category, The Dairy Private Luxury Hotel came in at No 1.

Eichardt's was sixth, Azur was seventh, Arrowtown House Boutique Hotel was 13th, Queenstown Park Boutique Hotel was 18th and Browns Boutique Hotel was 24th.

The Dairy was also rated fourth-best in the world in the small hotel category of the awards, after hotels in Greece, Belize, and South Africa.

Millbrook will celebrate its 20th birthday in March.

Head of operations Brian Howie said the award, voted for by guests, was the perfect way to celebrate the milestone.

More than 82 countries entered the annual awards and millions of Trip Advisor member reviews and opinions from around the world were used to select the winners.
