One dead in crash
A man has died at the scene of a two-vehicle crash near Waihola this afternoon and a second man has been taken to Dunedin Hospital with minor injuries.
State Highway 1 is expected to be closed until about 5.30 pm.
South bound traffic is being diverted through Henley, back out onto State Highway 1 and north bound traffic has been diverted along Centre Rd to Allanton.
The crash between the truck and the small 4-wheel-drive vehicle happened on State Hwy 1, at Henley, just after 1.30.
Dunedin Police senior sergeant Steve Aitken said both Dunedin and Mosgiel police responded to the crash.
The male driver of the 4-wheel-drive died at the scene.
The driver of the truck was transported to hospital for a check up, he said.
The Dunedin Serious Crash investigator was still at the crash and inquiries into the dentity of the driver were being made, he said.
