Moa Beer adds froth to golf contest
Moa Beer is lending its slick marketing muscle to making Arrowtown's NZPGA Pro Am Championship a golf tournament like no other.
The craft beer company has used its irreverent, tongue-in-cheek marketing to great effect, having secured an exclusive supply to the New Zealand Olympic team last year.
Moa marketing manager Sunil Unka yesterday said the company's irreverent approach would probably drop a few jaws.
"We're establishing three major bar spaces on the green. Our bunker bar will reflect our branding and packaging, which has a 1920s flavour - so expect to be transported to an English seaside resort with original-style bikini girls and deckchairs and some special beer cocktails - everything except the sea and seagulls."
The other two bars would add a modern touch, and music into events - but all within the constraints of a major golf tournament.
"Bars with no music are a bit of a drag, so we're going to have some live DJs playing through a silent disco system so we're not interfering with the golfer's concentration," Mr Unka said.
The Arrowtown tournament runs from February 28 to March 3.
