LATEST: Police have released the name of the man who died when a dinghy overturned at Papanui Inlet on the Otago Peninsula, near Dunedin yesterday.
Robert Wilfred Clearwater, 75, from Portobello, was one of two men who were thrown from the dinghy.
Senior Sergeant Kelvin Lloyd, of Dunedin, said police had completed their investigations and the death had been referred to the coroner.
It was believed neither men in the dinghy were wearing a life jacket.
One of the men was able to hold onto a buoy but Mr Clearwater encountered difficulties while in the water and could not be revived, Mr Lloyd said.
The survivor was taken to Dunedin Hospital by rescue helicopter and was treated for suspected water inhalation.
