Three people have been arrested and charged with vehicle theft and arson after a car was found burning near Winton yesterday.
Invercargill senior sergeant Maggie Windle said police and fire services attended the vehicle blaze about 8km north of Winton at 10.45am.
A police dog followed the scent of the two 17-year-old males and the 18-year-old female who had fled the scene but were located after a lengthy search in and along the riverbed near the Centre Bush bridge, Ms Windle said.
The 1990s Isuzu vehicle had been reported missing on January 27.
Inquiries were continuing and no court date had been set, she said.
