Contractors take down Christmas decorations in Tay St after a long stay above the Invercargill city centre streets.
Invercargill City Council roading manager Russell Pearson said the decorations came down a little bit later than usual this year - normally they would be gone by January 16.
However, because of the good weather, they had not been an issue, he said.
Mr Pearson said he had been contacted by some retailers recently who told him ''we've done Christmas''.
Taking down the decorations did require some organisation because of traffic detour and staffing requirements, he said.
