Costume preparations are under way for the anticipated annual show of Shakespeare in the Park.
Shakespeare in the Park producer Angela Newell, of Venture Southland, said the 21 Southland cast members, whose ages ranged from 15 to mid 60's, would include experienced and emerging actors.
Two 45-minute plays, one tragedy and one comedy, would be performed in Queens Park in the band rotunda area from February 12 to 17.
The show would differ from previous years in that the troupe of actors would arrive at the park and mingle with the audience as they unpacked their gear, she said.
Costume manager Melissa James said the cast had started rehearsing for the seven shows six weeks ago.
Shakespeare in the park had grown in popularity and was becoming established as an anticipated annual event, she said.
Tickets are available at Invercargill i-Site and cost $20 an adult, $15 concession and $5 for children.
